Welcome to the 3D Printing at Home Design Competition

Competition Briefing: Suppose you had a 3D printer at home. Design the first consumer product you would like to 3D print and use.

The competition is open to anyone who can design 3D objects. Entries will be accepted between August 31, 2011 and October 20, 2011. If you want to participate, just click on the participate link.

The first prize is an Ultimaker 3D printer and a 3D print of the design, 2nd Prize is a 3D scanner and a 3D print of the design and 3rd prize is a 3D print of the design. Price winners will be announced during the 3D Printing Event, October 25 2011, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

This chopstick aid helps beginners and pros alike. The flexible walls provide tension to assist in picking up food. The aid doubles as a spoon for soups and can be flipped over for a chopstick rest.

Rainy Day

A sculpture that pays. Rainy Day is a “piggy bank” where function and aesthetics meet. A stunning sculpture intended to be part of your décor. Rainy Day is designed utilizing 3D printing for production. 100% printable. No assembly required.

2nd place

Breathable Roots

This is a planter that one could hang on the wall. Once the plant is positioned, its roots receive oxygen from the tunnels created by the interconnectedness of the skin’s membrane. A smaller piece can be detached from the bottom, which collects the excess water.
